Competition Ping Pong Tables Can Be Used Anywhere
We have made ping pong table shopping simple by distinguishing your options in easy to understand categories. While the ping pong tables in the Mini, Outdoor and Ultimate classes are fairly self-explanatory, the differences between the three main types of indoor ping pong tables are subtle, but important to recognize. All the ping pong tables in the Li-Ning Recreation, Competition and Professional groups are regulation size: 5 feet by 9 feet and 30 inches high (152 cm x 274 cm x 76 cm). Sometimes these standard specifications are referred to as "tournament-size," "competition size" or "meets ITTF standards."
You will find that the main differences in our indoor lineup of ping pong tables are the thickness of the playing surface and the rigidity of the legs. Most ping pong table top thicknesses range between ½-inch (12.5 mm) and 1-inch (25 mm) thick, with the Competition gauge ping pong tables featuring a ¾-inch (18 mm) of heavy-duty particle board. We offer tables with these various thickness specifications for a couple reasons: first, anything less won’t hold up and could warp easily and second because the thinner tops are great for beginners, while professional players are used to the bounce provided by a 1-inch thick table tennis top.
Our mid-range competition ping pong tables are manufactured with sturdier 1½-inch (40 mm) legs featuring powder coated steel. This extra quality craftmanship not only makes the table more secure, it also adds to the overall weight. The competition tables weigh 188 pounds (85 kg) which helps anchor the unit in place for a very secure playing experience.
How Do You Know if Your Ping Pong Table is Competition Grade?
With all the various ping pong table thicknesses and materials on the market, how can you tell if your table is worthy of International Table Tennis Federation standards? Technically speaking, the table can be made of any material that results in a 23 cm (9 inches) high bounce when a standard ping pong ball is dropped on it from a height of 30 cm (12 inches). If you are going to host serious ping pong competitions, consider a Li-Ning ping pong table./
